The cartoonist brings a musical slideshow exploring the first graphic novels to BAM
Art Spiegelman is quite the man about town these days. He's the focus of a major exhibit at the Jewish Museum and now he's popping up BAM with an exciting multimedia performance. Joined by acclaimed jazz composer Phillip Johnston, tonight the influential artist provides a historical tour of the graphic novel, presenting works by Frans Masereel, H.M. Bateman, Lynd Ward, Otto Nuckel and more with musical accompaniment. Also, part of the evening is the presentation of a new work drawn specifically for the event, Shaping Thought!
