Ayelet Waldman’s latest book is Love and Treasure, a spellbinding novel of contraband masterpieces, tragic love, and the unexpected legacies of forgotten crimes. It weaves a tale around the fascinating, true history of the Hungarian Gold Train in World War II. Waldman is also the author of Red Hook Road and the bestseller Bad Mother: A Chronicle of Maternal Crimes, Minor Calamities and Occasional Moments of Grace. Her novel Love and Other Impossible Pursuits was adapted into a film called The Other Woman starring Natalie Portman. Waldman’s essays have been published in a wide variety of newspapers and magazines, including The New York Times, Vogue, The Washington Post, and The Wall Street Journal. Her radio commentaries have appeared on “All Things Considered” and “The California Report.”

Ayelet will speak with Elissa Schappell, author of Blueprints for Building Better Girls and Use Me. She is a contributing editor and the Hot Type book columnist at Vanity Fair, a former senior editor of The Paris Review, and co-founder and now editor-at-large of Tin House magazine.
