Explore one of downtown LA's most exciting areas, currently on a major upswing: Broadway.
Downtown’s Broadway is enjoying an ongoing revival. In the early 20th century, it was LA’s favorite place to see a film – it was strewn with movie palaces whose beautiful marquees gorgeously illuminated the bustling thoroughfare. It then underwent a decades-long decline, but has been on the uptick for a while now, thanks in no small part to the LA Conservancy’s Broadway Theater walking tour, the rehabilitation and resultant reuse of such glorious cinemas as the Los Angeles Theatre and the Million Dollar Theatre, and interesting new tenants such as the new Ace Hotel, Umamicatassen, and many more. Celebrate Broadway’s upswing on January 25. You can tour six insanely beautiful movie theaters, listen to historical presentations about the neighborhood, enjoy happy hours at some of Broadway’s coolest bars, and more.
