Enjoy fab cuisine paired with Napa Valley wines @ Cafe del Rey's gorgeous waterfront settting.
Café del Rey in Marina del Rey presents a five-course wine dinner with Napa Valley’s Cakebread Cellars winery. Executive chef Chuck Abair joins Cakebread, who’ve made wines for over 40 years, in matching up dishes with wines whose vintages range from 2009 to 2012. For this special dinner, Abair will offer a first course of sturgeon latkes with red onion soubise, caviar, and crème fraîche, served with a 2012 Sauvignon Blanc, followed by arctic char with spinach, king mushrooms, coriander, and salmon “chicharónes” matched with Cakebread’s 2012 Chardonnay. The third course, pork tenderloin with grilled escarole, apple relish, and braised pork beggar’s purse, is accompanied by Cakebread’s 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon. The fourth course is rack of lamb with stuffed grape leaves, eggplant sofrito, and hummus, along with a 2011 Pinot Noir. For dessert, you’ll enjoy a grapefruit bellini with grapefruit sorbet, raspberry, and candied pears served up with a 2012 Tavistock Prosecco. Passed hors d’oeuvres begin at 6:15pm, while dinner is served at 7:00pm.
