Chiles, get 'em while they're hot!
Whether you like yours sweet, hot, or downright fiery, this annual chile fete, put on by the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, should have something to satisfy. Now in its 21st year, the Chile Pepper Festival features music, a marketplace, tours, and a slate of some of the area's leading culinary minds, all fired up by the special and often misunderstood fruit — and the cultures that cook with it. Hot sauces, pickles, spice rubs, and other delicacies are available for tasting and purchase. The festival also brings back our favorite combo, the merging of chocolate and chile. Expect sensational concoctions from folks like JoMart, Cookie Fairy Sweets, and Raaka. And if that's not enough to spice up your Saturday, feats of flame are also part of the festivities.
