Political opponents and S.O.s James Carville & Mary Matalin join Jonathan Bass in conversation
Rarely do the words “rockstar” and “political consultant” converge on a single point, unless of course said point is the legendary duo of James Carville and his wife Mary Matalin. Lead strategist for Bill Clinton’s 1992 presidential campaign, Carville’s straight shootin’ speak your mind attitude and trademark Southern charm transformed the prominent Democrat into a kind of pop culture icon. He’s gone on to appear as co-host of CNN’s Crossfire, write numerous books on the American political landscape, and star on television and in films such as Billy Madison and Wedding Crashers. The lifelong liberal is (in)famously wed to political opponent and Republican pundit Mary Matalin, campaign director and assistant to George H.W. Bush and chief editor of conservative publishing imprint Threshold Editions. Perhaps there is room for civility in politics? Thier marriage of twenty years seems to suggest so. The two join Jonathan Bass in conversation at the Nourse Theater.
