A full day of inspiration through writing
City Voices Writing Retreat$125
Join NY Writers Coalition for a full day of inspiration, new writing, and artistic community building in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. This daylong retreat will help you connect with your authentic writing voice, experiment with form, style, and new genres, and develop existing material in new and unexpected ways.
Writers of all genres and levels of experience are welcome. This workshop method is designed to deepen your writing skills, while bringing new energy and encouragement to your writing. It allows writers of all backgrounds, ages, and genres to grow together as writers.
The retreat will be led by our Executive Director Aaron Zimmerman. He has been leading creative writing workshops since 1997 through Manhattan Writers, a writing workshop program he founded, and has since worked with hundreds of writers of all genres, ages and backgrounds. Mr. Zimmerman has an MA in Creative Writing from City College. His novel, By The Time You Finish This Book You Might Be Dead (Spuyten Duyvil, October 2003), was selected by Poets and Writers as a “New and Noteworthy” book. His fiction and poetry have appeared in numerous literary magazines, including The Brooklyn Rail, Georgetown Review, South Dakota Review, Jeopardy and Mid-America Poetry Review. In addition, Mr. Zimmerman has extensive business and legal experience in the entertainment field, most recently as Director of Law Administration for Showtime Networks Inc.
