During this interesting dialogue—serving as a complement to the exhibition “See the Light – Photography, Perception, Cognition: The Marjorie and Leonard Vernon Collection”—two professors discuss their respective fields of research—neuroscience and vision—to shed light upon the neural system and its role in the processing of visual information. In examining the brain’s processing of visual information and the ways in which artists drive the mechanics of vision, Professors Irving Biederman and Pietro Perona will elucidate how neuroscience can help us understand the processes of perception and cognition while explaining how the brain forms aesthetic judgments.
