Brandon Welchez and Charles Rowell always seem to be the coolest kids in the room. The ex-Some Girls and Plot to Blow Up the Eiffel Tower members were already at the tip top of the independent music scene in San Diego when they decided to start Crocodiles in 2008, a Jesus and Mary Chain-esque noise pop band that received props from musicians and critics alike, ending up on both No Age’s and the New York Times’ best of lists. SInce releasing their first album Summer of Hate on Fat Possum Records, Crocodiles have matured their lo-fi sensibilities into a band that’s more Darklands than Psychocandy, with their fourth and latest LP Crimes of Passion out now.
