Let’s face it: Coachella can sometimes be a little “much.” With thousands upon thousands of festivalgoers descending upon the desert and just as many sweaty bodies swarming the Empire Polo fields and neighboring campgrounds, a retreat at the Ace sounds entirely welcome and wholly appetizing—especially given that the hotel is hosting its own auxiliary festivities during two consecutive weekends concurrent with Coachella. “Desert Gold” is a veritable goldmine of footloose and fancy-free frolicking and fun. Curated by Festival NRMAL, The Do-Over, and Remezcla, the program—which spans the hotel's Amigo Room, Commune, and Swim Club Pool—includes complimentary yoga and karaoke, DJ sets by The Do-Over, DJ Day, Miss Lily’s soundsystem, Warp records DJs, Modular artists, and Kindness, plus NPR-curated live music sessions, a Third Man Records pop-up shop, and appearances by the likes of Flying Lotus, Gaslamp Killer, White Fence, and Redd Kross. Take refuge from the raucous rave and lap up the sun—and the fun—at the Ace’s utopic desert oasis.
Throughout Coachella’s marathon weekends and all the time in between, Ace Hotel & Swim Club hosts Desert Gold — our sixth annual multimedia saturnalia in the sands and this one’s going to be something.
Festival NRMAL — discriminating friends of ours from South of the border — pack both weekends with live sets all day and all night. The Do-Over crew brings their always-memorable caravan of mystery DJs. Latino culture kingpins Remezcla stop by, plus DJ Day with an especially tricked out edition of our regular ¡Reunión! kickback.
We’ve got our tongues held on some of this year’s most exciting developments, but as always, the best bits are the ones we can’t tie down. We’re just here to facilitate the magic the best we know how.
