An exhibit that almost wasn't, Jack Goldstein x 10,000 is a retrospective of the late Canadian-born artist who became part of the Pictures Generation of the 1970s and 80s. Intended for MOCA in Los Angeles, the show was abruptly cancelled, but thankfully, later found a home at the Orange County Museum of Art. It has since travelled to New York, and is on view at the Jewish Museum. Tonight, the great John Baldessari, who was Goldstein's instructor at Cal Arts in the 1970s, and R.H. Quaytman share their impressions of the brilliant but troubled artist. Jens Hoffmann, Deputy Director for Exhibitions and Public Programs, moderates this intergenerational discussion.
