The Castro Theater presents a double feature of movies about drugs that are infinitely more stylish and fun than actually being addicted to them. Gus Van Sant’s breakthrough sophomore feature Drugstore Cowboy (1989) starts the night off with Matt Dillon as pill poppin’ pharmacy robbin’ Bob Hughes, with a cast that includes not just Dillon and Kelly Lynch, but William S. Burroughs as well, and (for what it’s worth) currently enjoy a 100% Fresh rating from Rotten Tomatoes. Up second is director Danny Boyle’s screen adaptation of Irvine Welsh’s infamous novel of the same name, the cult classic Trainspotting (1996).
