Liz McGrath celebrates the release of her book "Incurable Disorder" at La Luz de Jesus in Los Feliz.
Elizabeth McGrath's is a leader in the world of pop surrealistic art. Nicknamed “Bloodbath McGrath” for her dark, often unsettling imagery, the dreamlike, freakishly beautiful sculptures, dioramas, and paintings this self-taught artist creates are made from a wide range of materials, including taxidermy, gold leaf, ceramic, rhinestones, and found objects. Replete with historical and cultural references, they manage to retain a sweet sense of charm. Living in Echo Park as a kid, her Catholic upbringing, and a stint in a Fundamentalist Baptist correctional institution have all contributed to Liz’s edgy sensibility. See her sign her second book of her fantastical art, “Incurable Disorder,” at La Luz de Jesus in Los Feliz. The evening includes live music, BBQ, and more.
