Faced with the perceived imminent threat of invasion by Japanese forces in the Pacific shortly after the beginning of World War II, the coastal cliffs of San Francisco and Marin soon bristled with huge gun batteries and underground bunkers. Though they were never used, much of the infrastructure remains, drawing countless explorers into their long abandoned concrete tendrils. Join historian John Martini for a two mile tour of some of these armaments, from Fort Cronkhite to the bunkers and back.
