Annual showcase of inventive, groundbreaking new international cinema
Now in its third year, First Look is a series masterminded by the Museum of the Moving Image showcasing important and provocative films from the last year that have been hits on the international film festival circuit but have eluded New York audiences. This year's program kicks off with American indie filmmaker Alexandre Rockwell's free-spirited LITTLE FEET. Other highlights include Richard Misek’s ode to French New Wave filmmaker Eric Rohmer, ROHMER IN PARIS; David Cairns and Paul Duane’s documentary about Bernard Natan, NATAN; and Caroline Martel's music documentary WAVEMAKERS, which explores the history and legacy of the Ondes Martenot and features Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood. The series also offers a sneak preview of Koyaanisqatsi filmmaker Godfrey Reggio’s new film VISITORS (with Reggio, Philip Glass, and Steven Soderbergh in attendance!), and closes with Antonin Peretjatko’s THE RENDEZ VOUS OF DEJA VU. For most films, directors are slated to introduce or be on hand for post-screening Q&As.
