Austin-based shredder mixes his blues upbringing with elements of hip-hop and soul
Gary Clark Jr. cemented his guitarsmanship when the 20-something musician held his own alongside BB King, Eric Clapton, and Jeff Beck at the 2010 edition of the Crossroads Guitar Festival. Raised on John Lee Hooker and Lightnin Hopkins, the Austin-based shredder mixes his blues upbringing with elements of hip-hop and soul. Continuing to tour in support of his debut via Warner Bros, Blak and Blu, Clark has been compared to Jimi Hendrix, and turns out mesmerizing performances that even garner the Presidential stamp. Tonight, expect some faces to melt when he performs at Terminal 5. Opening are Austin acts, The Wild Feathers and Max Frost.
