WTF is this GMO all about?
Arena Cinema continues its strong programming of independent films and documentaries with a screening of GMO OMG. Unfolding with wit and charm, it answers the mysterious question of "WTF is all this GMO talk about?" The director and goodly father, Jeremy Seifert, searches out the answers to what GMO means to his family and the world. Traveling internationally, he delves into the science behind questions such as, "Can you feed the planet best with large scale conventional farming OR sustainable locally farmed organic foods?" There is shocking humor in discovering Monsanto actually holds patents on corn seeds. Seifert's kids appear in the film, bringing their kidlet wisdom grenades to keep us all honest about the fact that sometimes processed junk food is tasty. The director attempts the obligatory lobby entrance to request the hidden research by agra-giant Monsanto, from which he is unceremoniously ejected. GMO OMG captures the various arguments in the GMO debate and the growing concern to citizens the world over questioning why they are denied the simple right to know what's on their plate and how it was created.
