Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the coastal waters of Japan, the greatest movie monster of all time returns! Celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, Ishirô Honda’s classic has been beautifully restored and is back in theaters for a limited run. At the time of its making, Godzilla: The Japanese Original was the biggest budget film in Japan’s history and was a huge box office smash, spawning many sequels. With a new Godzilla directed by Gareth Edwards and starring Elizabeth Olsen, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Bryan Cranston, set for release next month, it’s a perfect time to catch up on the original.
