Follow up to 2008's award winning documentary on two of the art world's least likely heros
SAN FRANCISCO PREMIERE! FILMMAKER MEGUMI SASAKI AND SUBJECT DOROTHY VOGEL IN PERSON FRIDAY NIGHT AND SATURDAY AFTERNOON! Herb and Dorothy Vogel, respectively a retired postal worker and librarian, built a world-class art collection on their humble salaries. In 2008, they announced they were giving a total of 2500 artworks to museums in all fifty states. Though their collection was worth millions of dollars, the Vogels declined to sell a single piece. Having spent their whole lives as civil servants, their wish was to give back to the people of the US. A road movie through the art world, the film takes the audience on a journey across the country to eleven recipient museums, from Honolulu to Fargo, meeting curators and visitors, and introduces famous artists, as well as unknown favorites of Herb and Dorothy.
