A new documentary about John Waters' fabulous muse: the late, great Divine.
John Waters has certainly had his fill of fetes, but this time around, the American Cinematheque pulls focus on the outrageous and talented plus-size cross-dressing actor that helped earn him his cult status: Divine. Born Harris Glenn Milstead, Divine befriended Waters in high school and went on to star in nine of his films before his tragic death in 1988. A new documentary about the indie-film icon features live performance footage, film and TV clips, and interviews with the likes of one-time co-stars Ricki Lake and Mink Stole, not to mention John Waters himself. Stick around for a discussion with director Jeffrey Schwarz and other surprise guests.
