One of the most magnificent of all silent films in a newly restored print w/ a new musical score.
D.W. Griffith’s “Intolerance” is a landmark film, even nearly a century after its release. Four stories illustrate the mighty ills committed throughout history due to the titular shortcoming, including a poor woman kept from her husband and baby, the crucifixion of Jesus, and the fall of Babylon. You may recognize the amazing Babylonian sets as the inspiration for the design of Hollywood and Highland. Tonight's screening features a new score, and is an opportunity to experience a silent film as it was originally intended: with live music.
