Vladislavic discusses his newest novel, Double Negative
The authors will discuss Vladislavic's newest novel,
Double Negative (And Other Stories, 2013).
Double Negative is a subtle triptych that captures the ordinary life of a college dropout during South Africa's extraordinary revolution. Ivan Vladislavic lays moments side by side like photgraphs on a table. He lucidly portrays a city and its many lives through reflections on memory, art, and what should really be looking for.
IVAN VLADISLAVIC is the author of the novels The Folly, The Restless Supermarket, and The Exploded View. He has written extensively about Johannesburg. His work has won the Sunday Times Fiction Prize, the Alan Paton Award and the University of Johannesburg Prize.
TEJU COLE is the author of Open City, which won both the PEN/Hemingway Award and the Internationaler Literaturpreis. He is a contributing writer for The New Yorker's Page Turner.
