The singer-songwriter makes another pass through in support of his May release, Pale Green Ghosts
Practically knighted for his love song-soaked 2010 solo debut Queen of Denmark, John Grant returned earlier this year with an equally essential listen, Pale Green Ghosts. Recorded largely in Iceland with Birgir Þórarinsson of legendary electronic group Gus Gus, the former Czars frontman's sophomore release dials up the synthesizer. Largely confronting issues in his personal life, Grant uses this record to take aim at TC, an ex-lover who was also mentioned in his previous album, and to grapple with the reality of being an HIV positive gay man. Tonight, before embarking on an Australian tour, the musician graces Music Hall of Williamsburg with his wit, gospel and warm, abounding baritone.
