The Echo Park Film Center’s monthly-long artist-in-residence program, LA AIR, screens the work of its March filmmaker, Manila-born Miko Revereza. Probing such themes as cultural identity and the Americanization of Filipino immigrants, Revereza’s personal films are thought provoking and poignant. This installment of LA AIR features two of his video pieces: DROGA!, a Super-8 film exploring the LA landscape—and examining the intersections of American pop culture and Filipino traditions—through the lens of Filipino tourist immigrants, and AYUS!, a VHS piece of footage Revereza compiled, featuring screen tests of family members and typical Filipino consumable products. To get a sneak peek at Reverza’s style, view his videos on Vimeo (http://vimeo.com/mikorevereza/videos) or surf on over to his Tumblr blog: http://mikorevereza.tumblr.com/
