"La Guinguette du Languedoc-Roussillon" by Sud de FranceBlock Party (2 East 74th Street, New York, NY, United States) Map it Free
Organized by Sud de France with the French Consulate and Acceuil New York.
You haven't been to a block party until you've been to a Sud de France block party.
Taking inspiration from guinguettes – buoyant cabarets where people would eat and dance on feast days – we’re throwing a festival within a festival.
First, we'll be taking over an entire city block and filling it with a table that is also the length of an entire city block! (Yes, this is how passionate we are.) And recreating the feel of a typical market in the South of France, you'll have your pick of the region's most delicious foods, to purchase or to enjoy on the spot.
As a special treat, French-born chef Laurent Kalkotourof the recently opened restaurant Atrium at Dumbo will be making one of Languedoc's most beloved specialties, brandade de morue, a wickedly flavorful salt cod dish made with the most sublime olive oil.
The Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream truck will also be serving a surprise Sud de France ice cream flavor.
In between bites, a live band will no doubt tempt you out of your seats and onto the dance floor.
Let the good times roll
