(((folkYEAH!))) presents the solo project of innovative Sonic Youth guitarist and co-founder

Lee Ranaldo is one of the most important guitarists in the history of underground music. As co-founder of Sonic Youth, Ranaldo essentially helped invent the genre of indie rock as it exists today, making connections between pop, punk, noise and the avant garde that only tenuously existed before. Sonic Youth may have died in 2011 along with Thurston Moore’s fidelity, but Ranaldo never skipped a beat, releasing Between the Times and the Tides on Matador Records, his ninth solo effort since 1987. Although stylistically a departure from his work with Sonic Youth, Lee Ranaldo and the Dust showcases the trademark guitar virtuosity and unique approach to songwriting that made him an icon of the underground in the first place.
