Members of Superhuman Happiness, Sinkane, Tony Allen, Kronos Quartet & more pay tribute to Fela Kuti
Summer in New York wouldn’t be complete without Lincoln Center Out of Doors, a free, long-running, annual outdoor festival that floods the plazas in and around Lincoln Center with music, dance and theater performances. This year’s three-week program is highlighted by KRONOS at 40, a mini-festival of 28 concerts and events programmed by Lincoln Center in conjunction with Kronos Quartet’s artistic director David Harrington. Red Hot +FELA LIVE!, the opening concert of the KRONOS at 40 series, features a diverse group of artists, including drummer Tony Allen, Sinkane, rapper M1, Sahr Ngaujah and Abenda Koomson of Broadway’s Fela!, and more, performing music off the upcoming release by HIV/Awareness organization, Red Hot, celebrating the legacy of activist and Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo Kuti. The evening kicks off with Superhuman Happiness and Kronos Quartet playing music from the soundtrack to How to Survive a Plague.
