The preeminent showcase for contemporary cultural storytelling
Cultures from around the world are brought together for this four-day festival named after the great 20th Century American anthropologist, Margaret Mead. Exploring subjects such as the ripple effects of tourism, the recruitment process for the British Army's Brigade of Gurkhas, and black market organ trafficking, this year's festival theme is "See For Yourself." In addition to the 39 films screening, a number of events round out the program, including a multi-media performance drawing inspiration from the Chinese jazz bands of the 1930s, a concert by Zuni recording artist Fernando Cellecion in conjunction with a screening of The Shalako Ceremony at Zuni, New Mexico, and a closing night Mexican-themed celebration. For the globally curious, there's plenty to discover at this open-minded affair.
