COMMUNITY PICNIC ON MARIN’S BEAUTIFUL WATERFRONT Marin Rod & Gun Club 76th Annual Picnic
The historic Marin Rod & Gun Club (MRGC), one of California’s largest outdoor sporting clubs, invites the Bay Area community to its free 76th Annual Picnic along the picturesque waterfront in San Rafael, CA on Saturday, July 27, 2013. This year’s family picnic will feature live music from local Marin bands, barbecued chicken lunch, barbecued oysters and other delicious local fare, family carnival games, and dozens of exhibitors with a variety of items for sale. The MRGC annual picnic is a free family event open to the public to help build awareness and membership and raise funds for scholarships, pier restoration and conservation efforts throughout California. The historic Marin Rod & Gun Club is located at 2675 East Francisco Blvd. San Rafael, CA - just west of the Richmond Bridge.
Picnic goers are encouraged to pre-purchase the barbecued chicken lunch, which features a fresh salad and delicious corn on the cob, all for only $12. Tickets can be purchased in advance by visiting the club before the event or online at http://www.marinrodandgunclub.com in July.
Founded in 1926, the Marin Rod & Gun Club is one of California’s oldest and largest outdoor sporting clubs. With just 35 original members, the club focused on the conservation, preservation and propagation of fish and game in Marin County and beyond. The MRGC moved into its current headquarters on San Pablo Bay in 1956 and restored the iconic fishing pier and clubhouse that are the cornerstones of the club. Today, the club has 1,200 members who are actively involved in conservation, education and, of course, fishing off the club’s pier.
