Center For New Music presents a double dose of music documentaries on the funkier end of the spectrum. First up is Fabricating Tom Zé (2007), a film chronicling the life and work of the eponymous iconoclast and Brazilian composer who was rescued from obscurity by fan David Byrne. Up last is Brass Unbound (1993). Director Johan van der Keuken looks at the evolution of brass bands from their intrusion often as part of a colonial venture, to the native innovation following in its wake.
