Northside presents an eclectic indie mix of classics & soon-to-be-releases
Now a formidable component of the festival, film was introduced to Northside in 2010. Having a track record for serving up a eclectic indie mix, past films have included Errol Morris' Tabloid, Ai Weiwei Never Sorry, Sarah Polley's Take this Waltz, and Todd Solondz's Life During Wartime. For 2013, the festival has again enlisted the help of organizations like BAM, IFC, IFP, indieWire and Women Make Movies to come up with a program of over 50 films, both classics and the soon-to-be-released. Invading various neighborhood theaters, highlights of this year's slate include Neil Jordan's Byzantium, Barbara Miller's Forbidden Voices, Hannah Fidell's A Teacher, Chris Smith's American Job, and Joe Swanberg's All the Light in the Sky. Northside also continues it's commitment to rising filmmakers with its DIY competition that dishes out cash prizes. Visit Northside's site for the full line-up and schedule.
