Outfest began in 1982 when a group of UCLA students decided to bring more visibility to the LBQT community by way of their stories. "Facing Fear," directed by Jason Cohen, sounds like one of the festival’s most intriguing films. This documentary short is about Matthew, a 13-year-old boy kicked out of his home for being gay who then lives on the streets of Hollywood, where he is attacked and left for dead by a group of neo-Nazi skinheads. 25 years later, Matthew has an emotional chance encounter with one of his attackers. This short screens as part of a program of short films.
