If you’re looking for some cultural enrichment this weekend, then we suggest heading to the South Street Seaport for this music/art mash-up. What started as a collaboration among artists to help the surrounding community affected by hurricane Sandy, has developed into a full-on neighborhood affair. Over the next two days, Seaport venues play host to art installations curated by Sara Resimen of Percent for Art. On Saturday only, the Front Row cube is the spot to be for music performances by Red Horse, Ocean Carolina, Watermelon Sugar, and more beginning at 5PM. The urban adventurer should find much to explore at this special Seaport celebration.
"Out To See" is a collaboration of artists and musical performers taking place in the heart of the South Street Seaport on Saturday, March 1st - Sunday, March 2nd, 2014 (11am-11pm).
What began as a local, grass roots effort trying to energize the community in the wake of hurricane Sandy has blossomed into a full-scale event intertwining 17 local stores, restaurants and venues. Artworks, curated by Sara Reisman of Percent For Art, will be installed throughout the entire neighborhood in local businesses and unused spaces. Music performances will take place in the evening at Front/Row on Fulton street. The goal of the event is to encourage visitors and locals to explore the Seaport and all it has to offer.
