A night of readings and discussion with acclaimed authors Gabriel Roth and Daphne Uviller.
Pen Parentis has an intimate evening of good literature, conversation, and music planned for December, featuring two acclaimed novelists. Gabriel Roth and Daphne Uviller, both known for their keen insights into human relationships, will read from their work and discuss their writing and parenting lives. Prior to the reading, and periodically throughout the night, salon goers will be serenaded by live jazz. Past readers and friends of Pen Parentis are likely to attend, and we hope that you do as well! Plan on having another drink after the event, so that you can listen to some tunes and meet the wonderful Pen Parentis community. The reading takes place on the second floor of the elegant Hotel Andaz at 75 Wall Street, which graciously provides happy hour specials on beer on wine. The night kicks off at 7:00 pm, and admission is free.
Gabriel Roth is the author of The Unknowns, which came out from Little, Brown in July. He grew up in London, England, and has worked as a journalist and a software developer. His daughter will be three in November.
Daphne Uviller is the author of the novels Hotel No Tell and Super in the City, which are currently optioned for television, and is the co-editor of the anthology Only Child: Writers on the Singular Joys and Solitary Sorrows of Growing Up Solo. She is a former Books and Poetry editor at Time Out New York, and her reviews, profiles, and articles have been published in The Washington Post, The New York Times, Newsday, The Forward, New York Magazine, Oxygen, Allure, and Self, for which she wrote an ethics column.
