Pterosaurs: Flight in the Age of DinosaursAmerican Museum of Natural History (200 Central Park West, New York, NY) Map it $27
Discover a world where pterosaurs flew overhead in this exciting new exhibition.
A diverse group with more than 150 known species ranging from the size of a sparrow to that of a hang-glider, pterosaurs survived for more than 150 million years before becoming extinct 66 million years ago.
What sets them apart from their dinosaur contemporaries is their adaptation for flying, a unique trait visitors will explore through multiple interactive exhibits. Visitors can also investigate pterosaur models, casts, and fossils and find out how these extraordinary ancient vertebrates moved on land and in the air, how they hunted, and what scientists are discovering about them today.
Visitors will also glimpse the pterosaurs’ ancient world in a dramatic diorama re-creating an inland sea in Brazil where pterosaurs, fishes, crocodiles, and other species co-existed millions of years ago.
