Restoring the Wilshire Boulevard Temple - Site Exploration$30
If you’ve heard about the two-year, $47.5 million restoration of the 1929 Wilshire Boulevard Temple, here’s your chance to see it firsthand and learn from those who know it best.
The Los Angeles Conservancy will host a one-day-only tour of the Temple’s Erika J. Glazer Family Campus on Sunday, April 27. This very special, in-depth event will include:
- A docent-guided tour of the original buildings
- Presentations on various aspects of the restoration from specialists involved in the work, including renowned preservation architect Brenda A. Levin, FAIA, who spearheaded the project
- An overview by Temple leaders of their vision for the campus as a resource for not only congregants, but for the surrounding multiethnic, non-Jewish community
- A performance by Temple organist William Beck on the sanctuary’s newly renovated 4,000-pipe organ
