What a long strange ride it's been for Sixto Rodriguez. Largely unnoticed in America throughout the 1970s, his work inexplicably became popular in South Africa, leading to a revival of his career. While that must have been strange, the Oscar-winning "Searching for Sugar Man," a 2012 documentary on Rodriguez's comeback, was ten times a bigger boost for his career, as evidenced by the singer-songwriter playing the Radio City Music Hall stage tonight.
