L.A.'s Groundbreaking Silent Disco Showcase Brings the Funk with a Motown vs. James Brown Lineup.
Silent Frisco returns to Wilshire Restaurant in Santa Monica for the closeout summer event on Friday, Sept. 20th, featuring a soulful mix of classic hits. Silent Frisco will 'make it funky' with a Motown vs. James Brown duel on custom two-channel headphones. Doors open at 9 p.m. and tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. The night will begin with the classic 70's rare groove of KCRW's Mario Cotto. Then, Silent Frisco Founder, Robbie "MoPo" Kowal a.k.a., Motion Potion will play two and a half hours of his patented James Brown material, including remixes, mash-ups, JB-influenced hip hop and rare live recordings. Following MoPo, DJ Expo of Motown on Mondays and Rootdown fame will spin originals, edits and remixes from Motown’s huge beloved canon. Much of the night will feature the music overlapping on two channels with the artists competing for dominance.
