A night of celebrating, ancient-Egypt-style.
Stupid Pills presents: Michael Parker's The Unfinished (an intermission with skits and face paint)Hyperion Tavern (1941 Hyperion Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90027) Map it Free
Join us for some unfinished business with Michael Parker, Hatshepsut, re-enactment skits by The Unfinished Players, face painting, ancient beer, work songs, a screening of Sun Ra's Space is the Place, and the pharaonic beats of MC Hymnal. Free. Cash bar. There will be cake.
On March 15, Michael Parker, along with a team of students and friends, dug out the last bit for The Unfinished, a 137-foot-obelisk shape cut from the asphalt alongside our concretized LA River. While one can never complete a sculpture called The Unfinished, one can certainly celebrate the achievement of its unfinishing.
More info on the artwork here: http://clockshop.org/theunfinished.html
To visitThe Unfinished, map the south end of Casitas Avenue near Fletcher and the LA River (2800 Casitas, 90039). Enter the asphalt park (a sign will say “Closed Area” along with “The Unfinished” in 16 languages) and go past the grove of trees where you will find the site. Parker and Clockshop witl be programming events there until late 2014. (Check http://clockshop.org for more information.) The Unfinished is produced by Clockshop as part of Frogtown Futuro with additional support provided by an ARC grant from the Center for Cultural Innovation and in collaboration with California State Parks.
