Support independent literary publishers at this Lit Mag Marathon weekend kick-off/fundraiser
Kick off CLMP’s annual Lit Mag Marathon Weekend with a summer fundraiser to support independent literary publishers—and a chance to meet a brainy word-nerd of your very own. Andrew Durbin and Ben Fama, editors of small press Wonder, present Summer Crush: a performance, poetry reading, and dance party to benefit CLMP (Council of Literary Magazines and Presses), the indie-lit publishing organization that keeps small publishers going strong.
Tumblr artist Kate Durbin gets things going during cocktail hour, followed by conceptual poet Rob Fitterman, gut goddess Ariana Reines, USO comedienne Kim Rosenfield, and This is Fag City’s very own Max Steele. Aerial wizardry by C. Ryder Cooley & Hazel, accompanied by CLMP Director Jeffrey Lependorf on traditional Japanese flute. Mistress of the Grrrrly and Grotesque, Lara Glenum, plays host. Silent Drape Runners and Andrew Shuta provide DJ sets for the night alongside Michael Thomas Vassallo’s witchy VHS mash-ups.
Get your heartthrob to go by buying a ticket in advance (www.clmp.org/crush) and listing your beloved on our online Interactive Crush List. Guests are strongly encouraged to live tweet sudden crushes for instant broadcast on a projected screen. To sweeten the deal? Proud CLMP publishers Ugly Duckling Presse, Argos Books, Futurepoem, and Wonder Press will distribute a gorgeous limited edition pamphlet, at no extra cost, featuring original text by Kevin Killian.
