Summer Streets returns with its zip line, fitness classes and other fun activities
This isn't a traffic report, but for all the NYC drivers out there: the city is closing off a stretch of street from Central Park to the bottom of Manhattan for three consecutive Saturdays in August for the return of Summer Streets. Bad news for drivers, great news for cyclists and pedestrians. Along the route, you can find free bike and rollerblade rentals, a Whole Foods Market City Picnic, a rock climbing wall, fitness classes, art installations, and even a zip line. Special for this year, the Park Avenue Tunnel is open to pedestrian traffic for the first time ever. Rise, shine, and play! These are your streets, New York.
