Dumpling Nirvana in New York City
From pierogis to potstickers and everything in between, the 2013 Tang’s Natural New York City Dumpling Festival is the perfect event for dumpling lovers and for anyone looking to try something new. Admission is free but foodies looking to sample the dumpling delicacies must purchase tasting tickets on the day of the event in order to try the selections from China, Italy, Korea, Poland and other cultures. Tasting tickets cost $20 (cash only) and all proceeds benefit the Food Bank For New York City. A highlight of the Dumpling Festival will include the 10th Annual Chef One Dumpling Eating Contest (from 1pm to 2pm) where contestants will attempt to beat the world record of consuming 74 dumplings in two minutes. Live cultural performances, lucky draws and interactive games will also be a part of the day’s festivities. Join the fun on Saturday, September 28 in Sara D. Roosevelt Park from 12 pm to 5 pm and taste the many different flavors in the dumpling world. Sara D. Roosevelt Park is located on E. Houston between Chrystie and Forsyth Streets in Lower Manhattan.
