Ten Years Alive on the Infinite Plain: The X-Patsys / Rhys ChathamThe Kitchen (512 West 19th Street, New York, NY) Map it $25
Issue Project Room continues its 10th anniversary festivities at the Kitchen with a delicious double-bill featuring the theatrics of the X-Patsys complemented by the notorious guitar work of Rhys Chatham. The X-Patsys, born from a friendship between actress Barbara Sukowa and artists Robert Longo and Jon Kessler, started out as a Patsy Cline cover band. Over time, the group has broadened and darkened, with Sukowa (best known for her work with director Fassbinder) now legendary for delivering impassioned and exhilarating performances. The threesome is accompanied this evening by musicians Anthony Coleman, Knox Chandler, Jonathan Kane ,and Ernie Brooks. As for Chatham, the guitar army general and father of the No Wave movement revisits his 1977 composition, Guitar Trio.
