The best stories from SHINE's first year. Will make you laugh, cry, be inspired!
SHINE, the popular Westside storytelling event, celebrates its one-year anniversary with The Best of SHINE. Favorite stories selected by the producers and audience vote will be presented on Thursday, February 27 at 7:30pm at the YWCA Santa Monica/Westside.
The Best of SHINE will include stories about a woman’s whirlwind romance; a man’s decision to leave a high-paying corporate job; a grandmother finding purpose after a 60-year marriage; a man coming to a new understanding of God; and a woman having an important revelation after a cross-country drive.
SHINE features professionals and amateurs coming together monthly to share inspiring true stories. Participants and audience members enjoy a relaxed community atmosphere, powerful and entertaining stories, refreshments, mingling, and live music.
Live music for February will be provided by Heather Stewart, an acoustic rock singer/songwriter known for her fiery, courageous spirit. Her recently released full-length album, What It Is, has been hailed by critics as “achingly personal, beautiful” (Elmore Magazine) and “an absolute gem” (Jersey Beat).
Professional storytellers for SHINE are chosen from some of the nation’s top award-winning storytellers and writers. Amateur storytellers of all ages and walks of life also take the stage.
