The Book Report Reading
w/ Chelsea Hodson, Micaela Blei, Ashleigh Lambert, hosts Leigh Stein, and Sasha Fletcher

Once upon a time you were in third grade and you had to give book reports and it was awesome. The Book Report promises to deliver exactly what it promises: reports on books by the people who’ve read them. Join Leigh Stein and Sasha Fletcher and assorted literate guests for an evening that will remind you of 3rd grade in the best possible way.

Chelsea Hodson, a 2012 PEN Center USA Emerging Voices Fellow, has worked as a reporter, a copy editor, a fourth grade teacher, and a Space Grant Intern for NASA’s Phoenix Mars Mission. Her chapbook, Beach Camp, was published in 2010 and her new work is in the forthcoming issue of Black Warrior Review. She lives in Brooklyn and is currently writing a personal essay collection.

Micaela Blei was a 3rd grade teacher for several years and now does all kinds of work with, for and about kids. She is a Moth GrandSLAM Champion and can be heard on the Moth Radio Hour. She’s also appeared in other great storytelling shows, including the Liar Show and Ask Me! Stories. When it’s above 50 degrees, she can be found on her bicycle all over New York City.

Ashleigh Lambert is the author of the chapbook Ambivalent Amphibians, now available from Dancing Girl Press. Her poems can also be found in Anti-, Bone Bouquet, Elimae, and Sink Review.

Leigh Stein is the author of four chapbooks of poetry and one novel, The Fallback Plan, newly released from Melville House. You can listen to an excerpt of The Fallback Plan here.

Sasha Fletcher is the author of the novella WHEN ALL OUR DAYS ARE NUMBERED MARCHING BANDS WILL FILL THE STREETS AND WE WILL NOT HEAR THEM BECAUSE WE WILL BE UPSTAIRS IN THE CLOUDS [ml press 2010] and a couple of poetry chapbooks.
