Sold Out: The Knife - Shaking the Habitual TourTerminal 5 (610 West 56th Street, New York, NY) Map it $40
Swedish brother sister duo, The Knife, known for beat based electropop, shifted gears in 2013 with Shaking the Habitual, their most political, challenging, and ambitious album yet. The Knife crumbles every expectation on the live version of the album and responses from critics and fans alike split between blatant frustration and awe. The live show, like the album, challenges the listener in ways that are both comical and grotesque. The experience promises a troupe of lip-synching dancers, the “playing” of unidentifiable instruments, and 'DEEP Aerobics' (short for "Death Electro Emo Protest Aerobics"). The Knife’s long-awaited Shaking the Habitual North American Tour kicks off at the Coachella Music Festival and comes to Terminal 5 for two nights at the end of April. Both shows sold out less than 48 hours after being announced. "Shaking the Habitual" is as thrilling as it is disorienting, an experience that questions the average definition of a concert.
