Hard to believe, but it’s been nearly a quarter century since Bikini Kill first stepped foot on stage and forever altered the face of underground music. For the last twenty three years, lead singer Kathleen Hanna has been one of the most ferocious, uncompromising, and polarizing figures in American entertainment, the unrelenting force at the helm of Bikini Kill and Le Tigre who ignited the Riot Grrrl movement of the early 90’s, reinvigorated feminism in popular culture, and even managed to get her husband Adam Horovitz of the Beastie Boys to publicly apologize for their song “Girls.” Hannah sits down with director Sini Anderson in this documentary on the singer’s life, activism, and musical career.
