Umamicatassen’s recent popup series, subtitled “To Live and Dine in LA,” (http://ow.ly/kVh7a) just ended, but chef Micah Wexler already has a new series all ramped up. Entitled “Dead Chefs,” part of Umamicatassen's “The Residency” program, the new series, launching June 6, is a tribute to dearly departed great chefs of yore. Considering how much we enjoyed “To Live and Dine in LA,” an inventive weekly food series that featured adventurous tasting menus that explored different LA neighborhoods such as Boyle Heights, Pico Blvd., Koreatown, and The Beach, we excitedly await the cuisine to come during “Dead Chefs.” Wexler hasn’t finalized which departed chefs will be included in the mix, but he muses that Julia Child, James Beard, Bernard Loiseau, and famed gastronome Brillat-Savarin may include in his selections.
