Live pie tastings; two chefs discuss desserts & pie; & Jonathan Gold & other judges grade the pies.
Enjoy a pie-centric afternoon this Saturday at "The Science of Pie," part of UCLA’s Science and Food Lecture Series. Chef Zoe Nathan (Rustic Canyon, Huckleberry Café, Milo & Olive, Sweet Rose Creamery) will chat about desserts, particularly pie, with Chef Christina Tosi of Momofuku Milk Bar. Live taste tests of apple pies will be offered by Science and Food undergrads as they present their final projects. These finals will be judged by an esteemed panel of local chefs, food writers, and scientists, including Jonathan Gold, Zoe Nathan, Christina Tosi, and UCLA Professors Andrea Kasko and Sally Krasne.
