Lecture by Jade Banks, Folklorist, Mind-Builders Creative Arts Center (MBCAC), Bronx, NY.
MBCAC’s folk arts program has been documenting traditions in clothing and adornment for many years. Jade Banks is also a consultant to the Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage project on African American Adornment traditions. Ms. Banks will present on this project and her field work studies, as well as other adornment traditions such as hair braiding.
